If you're a friend of fashion, you'll probably notice the buzz of the H&M and Moschino collaboration throughout the fashion world, social media, and everywhere really, over the past few weeks. Here are some of my thoughts and reviews for this particular collection. Click here for my #HMoschino Lookbook.
The Man Behind the Collection:
All the beautiful pieces from the HMoschino collection are designed by none other than the talented creative director of Moschino itself - Jeremy Scott. He is a renown American fashion designer that is known for the designs of his own namesake label, Adidas and Moschino. He has also worked consistently with celebrities such as Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and etc.
"Whenever I design, I think about my friends. The Moschino [tv] H&M lookbook is like a party; celebrating the fun, the pop, the creativity and the energy of the people and the collection," says Scott in a statement. (https://fashionista.com)
About the Collection:
The collection was separated into 4 respective theme - Gold & Bold, MTV, Disney, and Denim. The full collection was launched a few weeks ago on the 8th of November 2018 in selected H&M stores. There's something for everyone in this spectacular collection since it's divided into so many theme, catering to shoppers with different style.
Prices from the H&M collaboration range from £25 to £300, making it an attractive alternative for fans of Moschino who can’t afford pieces from the normal range. (https://www.independent.co.uk)
Adding on to the hype, H&M x Moschino completely conquered the Times Square of New York City during their launch event. The world's most eminent supermodels such as the Hadid siblings, Naomi Campbell, and Winnie Harlow were seen strutting down the runway, donning the stunning pieces from their collection. Later on that night, Diplo further excites the guests with his surprise performance as he took over the deck. Filling up the front seats of the show were various celebrities including Paris Jackson, Bebe Rexha, and Coco Rocha. Instagram influencers / fashionistas such as Christinna Kuan (@ms_kuan), Isabel (@prettyfrowns), and AMIAYA (@ayaxxamiaya) were also invited to watch the show from the front seats of the house.
Shopping Experience / Review:
My experience of getting my hands on these beautiful clothings was not as crazy as you might have read or seen online. As the town I'm currently residing in (Maastricht) is a quiet student town, I was lucky to not have to queue up waiting overnight or needing to snatch anything from the other shoppers (like in Kuala Lumpur).
I arrive around 9am (the time the H&M here was opened) and was one of the first ones to go into the store. When I arrived, there were less than 20 people in front of me and 5 to 6 joined in after me. There were 4 - 5 bouncers standing guard. They gave each of us a wristband with a time restriction or group, I'm not too sure. Each of us also got a pamphlet with some instructions - such as the rule of shoppers can only buy one piece of clothing for each design, etc... As you can see, it's all in Dutch so I had to Google translate them (more work for moi). They ended up allowing us to shop with no time and quantity restrictions as they realised that there were not that many shoppers. The space they sectioned out for this collection was not really that big as well.
Shoppers also get to keep the beautiful velvet hangers with HMoschino written on it that came along with each of the clothing. On top of that, they get packaged into a very nice and special HMoschino paper bag/s instead of the normal H&M bags. And guess what? You also get a really cute HMoschino stickers featuring some of their most beautiful pieces.
Thoughts / Review:
Personally, I absolutely adored every single piece in this collaboration; especially the Disney section. I'm don't usually get so hyped up about branded collections but this particular collection definitely stole my heart and brought out my inner crazy shopaholic nature.
If I really need to say something "bad" about it, I would say that RM150 is pretty expensive for a T-shirt. However, let's not forget that it's Moschino! My advice would be to spend the extra RM50 - RM100 and get a sweater or dress instead if you do have to choose between the one or the other.
What do you think of the H&M x Moschino Collection? Did you managed to get any? Comment below x
